1940's Scarves

I just love vintage scarves! Scarves in the 1940's were not only pretty to wear, but they were useful too. During WWII, scarves were the perfect accessory for female factory workers. What better way to hold back your hair? My grandmother and her best friend worked in an airplane factory during the war - the top picture I posted is of her friend. Although I don't know if she'd wear that pretty scarf to the factory!

I remember my Mom wearing pants and a hair net to work in the factory plant at GM in the 1950s. She was thrilled when she transferred to salary and office work and could "dress up".
