Making my Vintage Hats Fit

I love vintage hats. I just wish there were more available in larger sizes! I have a bunch of 1940's and 1950's hats that are a bit too tight. I really love them, so I didn't want to sell them, so what did I do? I bought a hat stretcher! Who knows if it will actually work, but I figured I would at least give it a shot. So I've got it inside one of my 1940's hats right now, I'm going to leave it for a few days and see what happens. Wish me luck :)

Vintage Hats - 1920's

I'm still waiting for hats to make a comeback. Will they ever? I would love to go into a beautiful millinery shop and pick out a hat for each one of my outfits. I have a few vintage hats from the 30's-50's that I wear now and then. But I have to be wearing the right vintage dress and hairstyle, otherwise it just looks wrong. I posted some pictures of 1920's hats, which I absolutely love. Check out the top photo of all the ladies at an outdoor party, only one of them isn't wearing a hat. Shame on her!

Vintage Hats for the New Year

Happy New Year ladies, I'm finally back. I thought I would start the year off with a collection of gorgeous vintage hats I found on Ebay. They range from 1930's to 1950's, and are all quite unique. I think I'm gonna go with the 3rd one as my favorite, that ivory satin is irresistible!

Vintage Hats to Match your Vintage Clothing

I'm in love with this picture. Not because its absolutely sweet, but check out her fashion sense! I do have some pretty nice vintage hats, but none that were made to go with an outfit so perfectly! The detail and workmanship in the top she's wearing is just beautiful. The sleeves, the neck, the pattern, it's just so classy and gorgeous at the same time. Why doesn't anyone wear hats anymore? Well I do sometimes...but not enough. Hats just seem to add that touch of elegance that seems to be missing nowadays.

Vintage Clothing Treasures

So, I discovered this hidden vintage clothing shop in the small town where I'm staying. You know, one of those places that doesn't advertise, and is basically an old door with a hand written sign on it, and is only open a few days a week. Anyhow, once I opened the wooden door I was faced with a huge old staircase that creaked every step of the way up. Who knew what would await me? I honestly didn't think it would be more than a consignment shop with maybe some 70's clothing. After all, I don't remember the sign even saying anything about vintage. When I reached the top, it looked like a huge vintage dressing room from heaven. It was absolutely beautiful, with all the vintage mirrors, draped fabric and antique dressing tables. There was case after case of vintage hats, shoes, and every other type of clothing and accessories you could imagine. It wasn't the typical vintage store, with the racks of vintage clothes lined up. Every item in this place was just displayed so perfectly, and you could tell how much time was put into setting up the shop. Could this be the reason the it's only open 4 days a week? I wouldn't doubt it. Anyhow, half the store was vintage and the other half consignment I think. My only disappointment was that some of the vintage items weren't for sale, and only for display! Why do they do that? If I wanted to go to a museum I would! If they don't want to sell their favorite items, my suggestion would be to price them so high that it would be impossible to sell them!
What I do like though is the 1940's ladies suit jacket I found. Pure class. In perfect condition, black, nice big shoulder pads, and so Lauren Bacall. The best part though? The price, $20.
Oh, and that's my darling Carloe Landis in the photo.

Vitnage Hat Box Suitcase

I love these 1950's or 1960's carry on bags. I'm thinking they were for vintage hats, but I just use mine for anything. I wish I could find more vintage luggage like this. I need an actual suitcase to match. So far I just have a dark blue hat carry on exactly like the one pictured above. Anyone else have any vintage luggage?

Vintage Hat Dreaming

So, I found these three gorgeous hats that I love. The first one is from the 20's, second one from the 30's, and of course the last one is from the 40's. I think that if I had to pick one though, I would choose the green 30's hat. I love the fact that it has a bit of a masculine look to it. Which is your favorite?

My Latest Vintage Score

Well, 2 things actually. A plaid 1950's swimsuit, and some cute 40's platform heels. My next thing is hats, I want to find some vintage hats that I can wear. Oh, and if anyone has any info on how to style hair 30's/40's style let me know. I have curlers but I'm just not positive on placement.
