Vintage Gloves

Continuing on my accessory theme, I just added a bunch of pretty vintage gloves to my website! They all look like they've hardly been worn, and will add that vintage touch to whatever you're wearing. Speaking for myself, I found a pair of navy 1950's gloves to wear to a wedding I'll be attending next weekend. They match perfectly with the navy blue 1940's dress I'll be wearing. I'm still searching for a matching hat and jewelry though!

1940's Dresses and Accessories

After looking at these pictures of 1940's fashion, I realized that the accessories are what makes the outfit. Without the hats, gloves, furs and jewelry almost all the glamour is gone. Of course this is probably obvious to most, but I've never been a big accessorizer - especially when I should be, like when wearing a nice vintage dress. So, I've decided to put in some effort, for the sake of vintage fashion. I have a wedding to go to in about 2 weeks. I plan on wearing a long 1940's gown, and usually that would be it. But I'm going to see what I can find. Hopefully at least some vintage gloves and jewelry!

Vintage Measuring Tips

Here are some great measuring tips I found in 1940's magazine. The hat one was common sense to me, but the gloves one was really helpful! I never knew how glove sizes were figured out before. I always ended up buying vintage gloves that were too big or too small!

1950's Vintage Gloves

I got some great new vintage gloves this week! They're black and about medium length, and should look perfect with the grey 50's jacket my husband bought me! Does anyone else wear gloves? I try to as often as possible, but half the time I forget to wear them!

Vintage Christmas Presents

Happy new year! Hope everyone had a good Christmas holiday! I received some amazing gifts this year, my favorites being vintage items from my boyfriend and sister. Here they are! The first is a gorgeous vintage powder box from my sister. The second is a 1950's or 60's plasic change purse that I'm using to hold my lipsticks. It has a shimmery gold design with dried flowers, so cute. Third is a pair of light blue vintage gloves with pretty decorative beads. Next is a vintage measuring cup that I'm guessing is from the 1950's. After that is an adorable little vintage celluloid container, which has a matching celluloid brush shown on the last photo. Last but not least is a vintage tobacco tin with a picture of pretty lady's face on it. I can't wait to find a dress to wear with those blue gloves!

Vintage Clothing and Antique Furniture

I went to stay with my sister this weekend, and what did we do? Check out vintage clothing and furniture stores of course! As if there was any doubt!
My sister just moved to a really small town, and the place is overflowing with antique shops. I fell in love with 2 vintage dressers, and I can't stop thinking about them. The first was a 1920's French dressing table. It had these attached rectangular mirrors that move back and forth. It also came with a gorgeous little matching bench. Then there was a beautiful 1940's dressing table with a large circular mirror, no matching bench, but half the price of the other one. Hmmm. I'll have to see if I can find a little bench that would match somewhat.
Oh, and then I bought the most lovely crocheted vintage gloves. They're cream colored, and I was told they were either 1930's or 1940's. They look exactly like the gloves pictured above, except mine have a much larger ruffle around the wrist. Did I mention I also found a cream colored vintage hat to match? The trip was a success.

Case of the Missing Vintage Gloves

How could this have happened? To me?! I'm always so careful and paranoid about my vintage items, but somehow my gloves got away.
They disappeared somewhere between getting out of my friends car and walking into her house. I don't even know how thats possible. All I can think of is that the wind blew them away. Yeah right, especially considering how it wasn't windy at all.
Did they not like me? I don't understand. I took them out every weekend, let them hold drinks, go to see great bands play, let them pose for pictures, and after all that, this is the thanks I get. But the mourning period has now ended. I found some similar vintage gloves on Ebay (pictured above) and ordered them right away. The description said they're 1920's, but I thought they looked more 1950's. To be honest though, I know nothing about gloves. I just wear them, and lose them apparently.
