Dorothy Lamour was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1914. In 1931, she entered a beauty pageant and was crowned "Miss New Orleans". She then pursued a career as a singer which eventually led her to Hollywood in 1936. Dorothy soon signed a contract with Paramount Pictures and proved to be a talented actress. She was also one of the most popular pin-up girls during WWII, and helped raise millions of dollars in war bonds. Did you know that Dorothy once worked as an elevator operator?
