One More Day!

I'm leaving for Hawaii tomorrow to get married! So I won't be posting until I arrive back. Wish me luck! So far, everything I'm bringing to wear is vintage clothing! The only thing I'm having a hard time with is my hair. Usually when there's a special event I get my very talented hair stylist to give me finger waves or some other beautiful vintage style. But I'll be away from home and my own with my hair :(
Oh well, like I said, wish me luck! I'll try my best.

My New Vintage Shoes!

Check out these beauties! 1940's strappy black suede wedges with cute flower details. I've been trying to find some wedge 1940's shoes forever! The insides are a little worn, but the suede is perfect. I also got the original box and receipt! :)

Vintage Dress Finds!

I got a bunch of great vintage dresses over the past couple weeks. Not all of them fit me just right, so they're going up on my website. Here are some of the photos! I think my favorite is the red 1950's dress, but I also love the blue 1960's dress and the 60's babydoll nightie. So cute.

Guess Who? Vintage Starlet Photos

Can you name all these vintage starlets? I had to look twice as some of them have a different hair color or are just really young!
Ok, so here are the answers: Starting from the top is the very young Barbara Stanwyck, then we have a brunette Carole Lombard, next is Rita Hayworth in her teenage brunette days, and lastly is the young Lana Turner.

My New Vintage Purses

I just got 2 new vintage handbags on Ebay! I think they're both quite beautiful! The first one is a silver beaded 1930's purse that I may use on my wedding day. It's so pretty, I think it will suit the occasion. The second one is a 1940's purse with a rhinestone clasp, and it comes with a matching little coin bag. So cute!

Vintage Wedding Dress Inspiration

Wow, I'm so behind in my blogging! I will get back on track eventually. There's been so much to deal with lately! Anyways, I've decided to go with 1930's for my wedding gown. For fun I thought I would do some research and see what my favorite vintage ladies wore on their big days. Which is your favorite look? From the top we have Jean Harlow and Paul Bern in 1932. Ginger Rogers and Lew Ayers in 1934. Betty Grable and Harry James in 1943. Ava Gardner and Frank Sinatra in 1951. Lana Turner and Bob Topping in 1948. My favorite dress would have to be Lanas, but you can't beat pin up girl Betty Grables hair with that huge flower. Love it.

Gorgeous Lucite Purse

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I've been so busy trying to get all the wedding stuff organized! Anyways, I was just checking out Ebay for a vintage purse and look what I found! Now thats a wedding purse! Unfortunately I don't think I'll be bidding on this one, as it's already up to $325 and theres still 2 days left! Wow. It is beautiful though. Red glitter and lucite, I've never seen anything like it.
There's actually a silver little art deco bag I've had my eye on....I'll post a photo after I get it!

Vintage Starlet of the Day

Fay Wray. I watched her in the original "King Kong" the other day, and I must say she has the best wardrobe! She's so cute! Apparently Fay's famous role in "King Kong" was turned down by Jean Harlow. It's weird, I've heard of so many movies in which Jean Harlow was offered a role but turned it down. I wonder how many of those rumors are true? Anyways, Canadian born Fay was also supposed to make a cameo appearance in the 2005 version of King Kong, but unfortunately passed away before the film was finished. I would love to see some other films starring Fay. I will have to look them up! Btw, isn't that dress she's wearing in the third picture gorgeous?!

Vintage Christmas Presents

Happy new year! Hope everyone had a good Christmas holiday! I received some amazing gifts this year, my favorites being vintage items from my boyfriend and sister. Here they are! The first is a gorgeous vintage powder box from my sister. The second is a 1950's or 60's plasic change purse that I'm using to hold my lipsticks. It has a shimmery gold design with dried flowers, so cute. Third is a pair of light blue vintage gloves with pretty decorative beads. Next is a vintage measuring cup that I'm guessing is from the 1950's. After that is an adorable little vintage celluloid container, which has a matching celluloid brush shown on the last photo. Last but not least is a vintage tobacco tin with a picture of pretty lady's face on it. I can't wait to find a dress to wear with those blue gloves!

Merry Christmas!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas holiday! I'm going away to visit my family, so I won't be writing for a while. But I can guarantee I'm going to have some vintage treasures to show off when I get back! Much love....

Vintage Wedding Gown

I'm getting married in February, so I'm trying to decide which decade of dress I'm gonna go with. My choices are a short flapper style 1920's dress, or a slinky satin bais cut 1930's dress. I posted pictures of 2 similar dresses. Two totally different looks! I can't decide! I love them both! I suppose whichever one fits me better closer to the date :)

Vintage Fashion 1929

I found this picture and I had to post it. Recognize the ladies in the middle? If not, it's Clara Bow and Jean Harlow in a photo from the late 1920's film "The Saturday Night Kid". All the girls are so adorable, and so are their dresses! Clara Bow's wardrobe for the film didn't fit, so she passed it on to the then unknown actress Jean Harlow, who was very grateful and apparently never forgot the favor. Obviously Clara, being the huge star that she was, must of had the most desirable and gorgeous wardrobes for her films. I love the dress Clara is wearing in the above photo, the buttons, the pleated skirt, the collar, so beautiful! All the girls look so great.

Keeping Warm This Winter

I was browsing on Ebay today and found some great 1940's coats and 1950's coats. It's starting to get colder so I think I may need to get another one. There were so many beautiful vintage coats, but these are my favorite three. For now anyway!

Vintage Holiday Dresses

Here's some beautiful 1930's and 1940's dresses that would turn heads this holiday season. My favorite vintage dress is the lilac colored satin one in middle. I also love Barbara Stanwyck's little fuzzy bolero jacket worn with her long black gown. The picture is from "Christmas in Connecticut". Has anyone seen it? I haven't, but I would love to. It sounds pretty cute. I actually bought the dvd for my sister for Christmas this year. I was hoping I could somehow unwrap it, watch it, and then seal it back up, but I don't think that's gonna work. Too bad. Last but not least that gorgeous velvet dress. I'm picturing it in a deep red, but you can pretty much picture it in whatever color you want. :)

Vintage Christmas Browsing

On Ebay that is. I decided to browse today, as I've done more than enough real shopping in the last few days! Though thats never stopped me before....hmmm, I may have to put a bid on that purse. Anyways, I tried to find some good holiday looking items. I found a beautiful red velvet 1950's dress, a vintage lucite bracelet, a 50's lucite purse and of course some gorgeous red vintage shoes!

Vintage Christmas Decorating

I decided to decorate my place early this year. Otherwise, it seems that as soon as put the decorations up, I have to take them right down again! So I have posted some photos of my vintage decorations. I was looking at some photos of 1950's Christmas trees, and I saw that most of them had tinsle. So I went out and got some tinsle to give my tree more of a vintage look. Do you think the tree looks better with or without the tinsle?

Different Shades of Jane

I came across this photo of Jane Russell with bleached blonde hair, which surprised me since I had only seen her as a brunette before. Then I found the red haired Jane photo, which I thought suited her a bit more than the blonde. What do you think? Jane as a brunette, blonde or redhead? I personally love her with dark hair best. So glamorous.

Vintage Winter Coat

Wow! Check out this 1940's coat. I want it! I found it on Ebay, but it's not my size. I love vintage coats, especially ones from the 40's and 50's. They just have so much class.
