Having coffee has always been such a comforting and relaxing thing for me. It's one of those things I look forward to, even though I have it every day. I remember going to my grandmother's and great aunt's house when I was really young, and they always had a huge pot of coffee going. They would finish off the pot in no time at all, and then they'd start another one! Maybe that's how they got so much knitting done? Anyhow, here are some cute pictures of coffee culture from the 1920's to the 1950's.
I finally had a chance to add some new vintage items to my webstore! Among them are a 1940's and 1950's purse, a pretty 1950's dress with a matching jacket, and some 1960's pedal pushers. I really wanted to keep both purses, but if you're like me, you have more purses than you can count!
I've been busy doing a lot of shopping lately, and I just got the most gorgeous vintage blouse. It's got long billowy sleeves, a shirt style collar, and pretty rhinestone buttons. I don't have a photo of it yet, but it's almost a combination of the blouses posted above. The first photo is from the 1930's, next is 1940's, and the last photo is 1950's. My blouse is from the 50's, but it has big sheer sleeves like the 1930's picture. Now I need a nice vintage skirt to go with it! After all, you can never have too many vintage blouses & skirts :)
Check out this cute little 1940's shirt I just got! It needs a little TLC, but I love fixing things up so they look new again. I found a 1940's pattern of a similar midriff baring top with matching shorts and skirt. So adorable! I think I may pair mine with some black 1950's capris that have been stored away in my closet, waiting for the perfect top.
I absolutely love vintage suits! They can be classy but glamorous at the same time. Here are a few pictures of some great 1950's suits. The first one is of Marilyn Monroe looking amazing in a green/blue suit. The next two are from 50's patterns, and the last one is a navy blue 50's suit that's for sale in my online store. Just remember to wear a hat to match!
I love old Christmas movies, but what I love even more are vintage dresses! This is one of those wonderful films that has endless costumes changes, from one beautiful dress to the next. Vera Ellen and Rosemary Clooney are both stunning in their wardrobe of glamorous 1950's dresses and accessories. I especially love Vera Ellen's yellow shoes in the 2nd photo!
Here are some lovely items you might receive under the Christmas tree if it were the 1950's. I wish I could have all these things now! I think my favorite gift is the heart shape case with the dresser set in it. Gorgeous. I love how there's a photo of the husband or sweetheart on the dresser in the first picture, so cute.
I adore vintage luggage. To me it always looks so much classier than new luggage. I posted some pictures of 1950's luggage from vintage catalogs. I find the quality of old travel cases so much better too, which would make sense considering so many have lasted over the years. The only downside I find is that they're a bit heavier than modern luggage. But that doesn't stop me. I just bought a cute little blue travel case this past weekend. It's one of those round cases thats lined inside, and it comes with a cute little mirror. I can't wait to use it!
I love all things vintage, including toys! I don't have many, but every year I seem to buy one or two. Here are some pictures of my very small collection of vintage toys. Among them a 1960's toy elephant, a 1950's clown, vintage kewpie doll, and an old baby and its bathtub!
I just love vintage wraps to wear over dresses! They're perfect when you don't need a coat, but still want something nice to wear over your outfit. I posted photos of some pretty 1950's stoles. I just love the white knit stoles, I only wish I could find some like that!
