I came across a ton of vintage 60's dresses recently, so I've been trying to add them all to my online store! My favorite is the tent dress in the last photo, it's so summery and happy! 1960's Fashion on Film - Palm Springs Weekend

My sister was watching "Palm Springs Weekend" this afternoon, and although I had a list of things to do, the 1960's dresses lured me in! This movie stars Connie Stevens and has some great early 60's fashion. I love the scarves she's always wearing to protect her big bouffant hair-do, and of course they always match her outfits. The party scene is the best though, every dress is better than the next. Oh, and did I mention the amazing 60's couches? I could watch this movie over and over again just for the gorgeous clothes and furniture!

1960's Dresses - A Decade of Difference

When someone mentions the term "1960's dress" to me, I'm always wondering if they're referring to the beginning of the 60's or the end of the 60's. I find especially with this particular decade, the fashion near the beginning and at the end look worlds apart. Micro mini lengths and wild prints were just two of the major differences. I think if the women in 1961 were to see what they'd be wearing in 1969, they'd be either appalled or excited! The dresses of the early 60's look very similar to the late 50's styles, where the dresses of the late 1960's were like nothing ever seen before. Which style do you prefer?

1960's Fashion on Film - The Misfits

I watched this movie for the first time yesterday, and loved it. It's probably my favorite Marilyn Monroe film now. She's quite different from any other character she's played before, and I would say it's one of her finest performances. The movie has an incredible star studded cast including Clark Gable, Montgomery Cliff, Eli Wallach and Thelma Ritter, who all make this an amazing film to watch. Anyways, now I will get to the clothes! Marilyns wardrobe is fabulous. The movie was made in 1960, but released in 1961 so there are still 50's influences in the clothing. Taking place in the hot Nevada desert, Marilyn get's to show off some very western and casual style clothing. There's also a little 60's bikini that's only shown for a couple seconds. My favorites though are the gorgeous cherry print halter dress, and the fitted black sheath dress. I also love the veil she wears in her hair in the first picture.

Vintage Toys

I love all things vintage, including toys! I don't have many, but every year I seem to buy one or two. Here are some pictures of my very small collection of vintage toys. Among them a 1960's toy elephant, a 1950's clown, vintage kewpie doll, and an old baby and its bathtub!

Vintage Kitchen Inspirations - 1960's

How do you like your 60's kitchen? Funky or Sleek? It's funny how different the styles are. The pictures of the early 1960's kitchens look very mid century modern, whereas the late 1960's kitchens are much more loud. Don't get me wrong, I love them all. I'm actually having a hard time picking a favorite!

Who doesn't love vintage jewelry? I found this pic of some great vintage rings by Vendome from the late 1960's. I think I love them all.

1960's Swimsuit, Hawaiian Style

I watched the 1960's Elvis film Blue Hawaii not too long ago. I think I enjoyed the music in this movie better than the movie itself. But anyhow, I noticed one of the girls in the film is wearing a 1960's bathing suit very similar to one that I have on my website! The major difference is that hers is yellow and mine is red. It's so cute. Speaking of cute, check out those red shorts the girl on the far right is wearing! As for Elvis's dance move on that picture, it's up for questioning...

Vintage Blouses

I just added these two 1960's blouses to my website. I especially like the blue & green one - it has the cutest little rhinestone buttons! I also posted some pics I found of similar 1960's tops :)

More Vintage Goodies

I've been having lots of luck lately! Finding more and more vintage clothes all the time. Hopefully it keeps up. First I found a glamorous 1960's coat with a mink collar. It's in perfect condition too! Next I found a gorgeous 60's cocktail dress. It's a golden yellow color with chiffon bodice and sleeves. So pretty. Lastly, my first 1930's bathing suit! Most of my swimsuits are from the 50's, so this my new favorite.

Vintage Dress Finds!

I got a bunch of great vintage dresses over the past couple weeks. Not all of them fit me just right, so they're going up on my website. Here are some of the photos! I think my favorite is the red 1950's dress, but I also love the blue 1960's dress and the 60's babydoll nightie. So cute.
