Vintage 50's Prom Queen

I can dream, can't I? Another dream would be that this dress wouldn't have a huge rip in it! But only I have to know that, because I covered it up with a flower!
It works pretty good doesn't it? For $6, I figured it was worth the try. Another idea I had would be to remove the top layer of tulle/netting over the bodice. Then it would just become a strapless gown, which would be nice except that the layer underneath is a little faded...I think I'll leave it for now. More clothing pictures to come!

Sparkling Vintage Shoes

Lucked out with these 1970's wedges. Not only did I find silver ones, but I found the exact same pair in gold! One set I found at a vintage clothing store, and the other at a thrift shop! So weird! And they're both in amazing condition. Crazy shoes.

Ebay Vintage Item of the Day

Gorgeous vintage 1930's dressing gown/robe. Even better because I won it! Finally. All the clothes I've bid on in the last couple weeks I've been outbid, but this one is all mine. The mannequin is kinda creepy, but it didn't scare me away. This is my oldest item now. Yay!

Vintage Clothing to Die For

Feast your eyes on this 1950's bombshell. I bought this gown a little while ago at a local vintage store for under $50, and it's perfect! No, it doesn't fit me, but I have tiny friends who can model it. I swear I've never found a dress so beautiful and in such great condition. I will probably sell it, but I don't want to! I want to display it on my wall, haha.

Sparkling 60's Vintage Purse

Picked this little purse up at a cheap vintage shop last weekend.
Looks sixties.
I love sparkly accessories...
I could never say no...
Then I found a silver box shaped one, and a clutch covered in fake pearls!
Ooh, and I also got a really cool hat box that's like a mini suitcase!
So now I have something to carry them around in.

Vintage Starlet of the Day

Betty Grable. What a doll. You gotta love the 1940's 2 piece bathing suit. It's easy to see why Betty was the favorite pin-up girl of WWII. She's absolutely adorable. Did you know soldiers actually painted pictures of her on the noses of their bombers? Now that's fan dedication.

Vintage Space Style

The elegant Jane Jetson.

This is actually the first picture I've seen of her wearing something other than her usual purple mini dress, so I had to post it.
Jane was basically a sweet housewife and mother who did absolutely nothing.
Their robot did all the housework, and dinner came from a vending machine.
So she was basically a lazy space wife.
She looks great though.

Love the sixties futuristic fashions.

Ebay Dress of the Day

Beautiful and unique, orange colored 1940's taffeta gown. What I wanna know is, unless you're hooked up to an old movie stars wardrobe collection, where do you find clothes like this? Even at expensive vintage stores and estate sales, I've never seen anything quite this glamorous.

Vintage Clothing Miracle

Finally!
Im back!

After not having a computer for 2 weeks, I can now post again.
So I'm gonna try and do a post overload the nest few days.
I'm starting off with a pic of this 1940's dress, because I found one almost identical at Value Village last week.
Yes, I said Value Village, it's true.
Never have I found anything this good there.
Now I probably won't find anything there for the next 2 years, but this was worth it.
The only difference is mine is more of an acetate fabric, where is this one looks satin-like.

Gorgeousnessssss....

Vintage Starlet of the Day

Carole Landis in 1940. It was almost impossible to choose a picture of her, as each one is more stunning than the next. Did you know Carole chose her screen name after her idol Carole Lombard? She looks like perfection, maybe that's why she was voted best dressed screen star in 1943.

Ebay Dress of the Day

1940's swing style dress. This is so simple yet so gorgeous. I actually just bought a vintage 40's dress this morning, and it's stunning. It's a miracle too, the waist was bigger than 24! Usually everything I find thats earlier than 1950's is so tiny. It's sheer though, so I can't post a picture till I get a nice slip to go under it:)

Vintage Style

Once again, I'm not usually into the vintage "style" or retro "style" in clothing.
Usually they're just cheap rip offs, trying to be trendy.

This dress however, I love.

It was on some vintage inspired fashion website, but you can tell all the dresses were very well made, and quite beautiful.
They're pricing was pretty crazy though, for non-vintage items.

Crazy but stunning.

Vintage Silver Shoes

As I was pouting over how people were outbidding me on Ebay (for all the vintage shoes I wanted)...I had a brilliant idea.
Why not just go down to one of the local vintage stores, and try and find some cute shoes?
I've been online so much I almost forgot that real stores existed!
So I found these silver beauties that fit me perfectly.
I wonder what year they're from...the girl at the shop said prob 1950's, but I had thought 1960's...
If Carol from Dandelion Vintage reads this, let me know what you think!

Ebay Dress of the Day

This is just beautiful. 1950's swing style dress. I love the light colors & ruffles, and check out the lace on the sleeves. Now just add some white gloves, and what kind of shoes? White heels? That might be perfect.

Gold Vintage Purse

Ooooh, check this out. It's gold, it's sparkly, and it's mine! Found it at this hole in the wall vintage shop for less than $10. It's always the places I never think I'm going to find anything at that I end up getting the most stuff!

Vintage Gloves

Got my first Christmas present last night! A sweet friend of mine got me some gorgeous vintage gloves. I'm guessing they're 1950s, but I could be wrong. Either way I'm so excited, and can't wait to wear them. I've gotta start wearing more of my vintage collection. There's no sense in having all those beautiful dresses just hang in my closet, and this is the perfect time of year to do so. I will post the pics to prove it too.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas!

Ebay Dress of the Day

Love this red 1940's dress, but I still can't find my red vintage dress!
Why is it so hard to find a red one that fits me?
Life is unfair.
And I wanted one for the holidays. I've been looking for months too!
Ok, enough.
I did pick up a bunch of 70's shirts this weekend, if thats any consolation. Really funky, with big collars and crazy patterns. So fun.
Oooh, and I found a bunch of old school baby barrettes, all brand new in packages, so I grabbed those as well.
Last but not least, I found some very lovely gloves.
White, in good condition, with a little flower pattern on them.
Very ladylike.

Vintage Starlet of the Day

The goddess Rita Hayworth. I just watched Cover Girl, which has so much fabulous 40's fashion. Gorgeous suits & hats all over the place. Pure elegance. Not to mention the beautiful dresses.

Vintage Christmas Angel

My precious thrift shop angel. Complete with lights inside her dress. My favorite part of her though is her messy little bleached hair do.

Vintage Dress Finds

Wow, its time for me to post!

Ok, so I've found a ton of new things in the past week.
First the white little mini dress in the photo.
It looks really 60's, Im wondering if it was maybe some kind of unifom?
A little short for a nurses uniform, but the label says "White Cross" so you never know.
Just dont bend over.

Found a tye dyed 60s mini dress.
Super cute.
Also a long, green flower print Hawaiian dress. It's never too early to get ready for summer.
Not to mention a bunch of brand new, vintage white nylons to go with my new dresses.
And just my size.
Perfect.
