Vintage Starlet of the Day

The fabulous Julia Jean Mildred Frances Turner, otherwise known as Lana. Speaking of marriage, Lana was married 8 times! I would love to see pictures of each wedding dress she wore, what a collection she must have had.
Here's a useless fact: Lanas eyebrows always had to be drawn on. When her eyebrows were shaved off in the late 1930's (as most actresses were) for some reason, hers never grew back!

Classic Vintage Dress

This is so perfect. I love it. This is actually a 1940's pattern, I only wish I had time to sew! I haven't sewn anything in months, my sewing machine misses me! Hmm, what color of fabric would I go for if I made this dress? I think I would pick a really light blue.

Vintage Square Dancing Dress

Oh this is a fun dress. I love what a crinoline can do, and I love these colors right now. Actually no, who am I kidding, I love all colors all the time. Anyways, gotta find me one of these dresses for summer!

Vintage Starlet of the Day

Gene Tierney. I can't get over her gorgeous clothing. I did some reading up on the always beautiful Gene. It's weird how so many starlets have extremely tragic lives. Apparently she suffered from depression, and was given shock therapy. After 27 shock treatments, Gene tried to escape, only to be caught and re-institutionalized. It eventually destroyed large parts of her memory.
Gene eventually died of emphysema from smoking. Ironically, it was her studio bosses when she was a young actress who had encouraged her to start smoking, they thought it would make her voice sexier.
