1950's Vintage Sweater

I was browsing online today for vintage clothing, (even though I planned on banning myself from vintage shopping this week) and I came across this 1950's sweater. It looks like one of those old school team sweaters. I don't know why, but I love it.
Question: Do you think it's a girls or guys sweater? Or does it matter? I think I would wear it either way, but I'm curious to know.

More Vintage Bathing Suits

I thought I would end August off with these 2 gorgeous vintage swimsuits. They are both 1950's, and the bikini is mine! Well, hopefully the blue one will be mine in 2 days, but that's up to my bank account. Check out the bottoms on my bikini, it has these cute cutouts on the side. So unique. But I absolutely love the gathering on the blue one, it's so flattering.

Vintage Starlet of the Day

The lovely Adele Jergens. Wow, the dress she's wearing above is breathtaking.
Since I recently posted the picture (a few posts ago) from the 1948 film "Ladies of the Chorus", I thought I should feature Adele. She was the blonde in the middle. Adele was only 9 years older than Marilyn Monroe, but in that film she played Marilyns mother!
Some fun facts about Adele:
She started off as a burlesque dancer when she was just 14 years old!
She was named "Miss World's Fairest" at the 1939 World's Fair in New York.
In the 1950's she became a bit of a b-movie queen, starring in films such as "The Day the World Ended", "Runaway Daughters" and "Girls In Prison".
What Happens To Women Without Men? I LOVE b-movie posters!

Value Village Vintage Score

Well, I hadn't been to VV in quite some time so I figured I'd just go and take a look. I honestly didn't expect to find any vintage, but all of the sudden I'm piling dress after dress over my arm. The next thing you know, I'm in the change room trying on 8 different things! Anyhow, I ended up walking out with a 1940's green taffeta gown (!!!! I still can't believe it!!!!), it was in their Halloween section, a polka-dot rockabilly style halter dress, a leopard print scarf, and a cute polka dot tank top! Sorry, no time for pictures right now, but I thought you might enjoy vintage leopard print barbie.

1960's Crocheted Babydoll Dress

Wow, if I knew how to crochet, this is what I would be making! I love 60's babydoll dresses, but this is just so much more unique. I wouldn't normally expect that color to look so good either, but with the texture it looks amazing. I wonder how long this would take to make?

To My Vintage Clothing Readers

I just wanted to thank all you beautiful ladies who take the time out to read this blog!
Unfortunately, none of my friends share my passion for vintage - so it's great that I can come on here and talk about my obsession!
Much love to you all,
Ang
PS - Can you spot Marilyn above?
PSS - I love the shoes.

My Newest Vintage Dress

Just purchased this 1940's beauty, and yes, my size! Full length blue/green taffeta evening gown with a gorgeous big bow in the back. Where will I wear this to you ask? That's not the point, the point is it's mine, all mine!

Vintage Starlet of the Day

Miss Barbara Stanwyck. Has anyone else seen "Baby Face"? I just watched it for the first time, and its definitely one of my favorite movies from the 1930's. It's one of the more racy films that was made before the Hays Code was put into effect in 1934. The Hays Code dictated what could and couldn't be shown on film, and pretty much censored everything. After the code, "Baby Face" was completely changed, scenes were taken out & I think they even gave it a different ending.
Anyhow, the original is back, and Barbara is incredible as Lily Powers, a woman who sleeps her way to the top. I love the fact that Barbara has a completely different look and style in every movie I've seen her in.

Case of the Missing Vintage Gloves

How could this have happened? To me?! I'm always so careful and paranoid about my vintage items, but somehow my gloves got away.
They disappeared somewhere between getting out of my friends car and walking into her house. I don't even know how thats possible. All I can think of is that the wind blew them away. Yeah right, especially considering how it wasn't windy at all.
Did they not like me? I don't understand. I took them out every weekend, let them hold drinks, go to see great bands play, let them pose for pictures, and after all that, this is the thanks I get. But the mourning period has now ended. I found some similar vintage gloves on Ebay (pictured above) and ordered them right away. The description said they're 1920's, but I thought they looked more 1950's. To be honest though, I know nothing about gloves. I just wear them, and lose them apparently.

The Bathing Suit that got Away

Well I tried and tried, but I was outbid! This gorgeous vintage swimsuit must now go to someone else. I love the light pink color, the gathered fabric, and the fact that it's strapless. It has such a pinup look. Oh, it's not fair!
